Tim Wonnacott made his debut in the celebrity antique world way back in 1979 as an expert on the Antiques Roadshow, although it was not until recently that he became known as the quirky television presenter we know and love today. Life was not always a walk in the park for poor Timothy. During the 1980s and early 1990s, Tim faced a string of very nasty allegations in the tabloid press concerning alleged magical qualities in his striking collection of bow ties, which eventually became an inspiration for the BBC television series, Lovejoy.
Wonnacott has since overcome these difficulties and has risen to the prized position of presenter of Bargain Hunt, although for five years he was overshadowed by David Dickinson, presenter of the primetime version of the same show. However, in 2005, the primetime version was cancelled, but the daytime version with Tim lives on. Therefore, the NHA hereby salute Tim for his sterling work at providing a place in our hearts for antiques. Well done, Tim!
